Pakistan Embassy Celebrates Independence Day
The Independence Day of Pakistan was celebrated with a colourful ceremony at the Pakistan Embassy today. The flag-hoisting at the Chancery was performed by Ambassador Syed Zulfiqar Gardezi. The Pakistani community comprising professionals, academicians, media men, politicians, poets and students from Copenhagen and other regions of Denmark attended the event in large numbers.
Recitation from the Holy Quran marked the beginning of the programme and prayers for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan its conclusion. Messages of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out on the occasion by Ambassador Gardezi and Ismat Hassan, Head of Chancery respectively. Students from Jinnah International School (Copenhagen) and members of the community sang popular Milli songs and recited poetry.
In his remarks on the occasion, the Ambassador highlighted that with dedication and sincerity, Pakistan had emerged as a respectable member of the international community. Pakistan’s steadfast support to the Kashmir cause was reaffirmed. The tangible success achieved in law and order and the rising economic growth rate of the country will get a fresh boost with the swearing in of a new Parliament and Government.
Ambassador Gardezi pointed to the growing challenges of water scarcity in Pakistan and urged the community to contribute generously to the Diamer Basha and Mohmand Dams Fund established by the Government, for which the Embassy had opened a separate account.
The Ambassador highlighted the progress achieved in Pakistan-Denmark relations since his assumption of office last year. Bilateral trade between the two countries had also increased correspondingly. The Ambassador hoped that with greater integration in the mainstream Danish society, the community would contribute to Pakistan-Denmark ties. Ambassador Gardezi expressed pleasure at the large turnout of community members especially the ladies and younger members and thanked them for the cooperation extended to him and the Embassy team. He reiterated equal treatment to all Pakistanis living in Denmark and assured them of continued stress on service delivery. He indicated that the Embassy will continue its cultural activities programme in the months ahead.
On the sidelines, a photographic exhibition on the freedom movement of Pakistan was organized. Rare pictures of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah, Allama Mohammad Iqbal and other founding leaders of Pakistan as well as scenic sights of the country attracted positive comment from the large gathering.
The Independence Day celebrations continued in the evening with a ‘MANGO MELA’ organized by the Embassy in collaboration with the Pakistani community, in central Copenhagen. At this public event, Pakistani mangoes were presented to participants.

It has come to the notice of the Embassy of Pakistan Copenhagen that some recently established self-styled “NADRA Advice Bureaus” are charging money from the applicants for helping them submit their Online NADRA Applications.
The Embassy clarifies that these “NADRA Advice Bureaus” operating at some places in Denmark are unauthorized entities, not sanctioned by the Embassy.
It may be noted that the Online Application Service for NICOP/PoC was started to facilitate the applicants to submit their NICOP/PoC applications from any place of convenience.
Since such Bureaus have no official authorization to operate, the Embassy will not be responsible for loss of money or theft of information of the applicants. Some of the applicants are already facing difficulties in NICOP processing due to fudging in their applications by the above mentioned Bureaus.
The purported “NADRA Advice Bureaus” are also warned that any use of the logo of the Government of Pakistan would be illegal and liable to prosecution.
The Pakistani community members, in their own interest, are advised to beware of the situation.
