Press Release – Adviser to the Prime Minister on Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan Mr. Qamar Zaman Kaira visited Copenhagen from 07-08 June 2023

Mr. Qamar Zaman Kaira, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan visited Copenhagen from 07-08 June 2023 to interact with Pakistani community in connection with their issues. During the visit, he attended a working lunch hosted by the Tehreek-e-Kashmir Denmark and Kashmir Society Denmark.  He also engaged with the Pakistani diaspora in Denmark in an event organized by the Embassy of Pakistan Copenhagen. The Pakistani community in Denmark and media persons participated in the event in large numbers.

The Adviser to the PM spoke about the situation in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and condemned the illegal occupation of IIOJ&K by the Indian occupation territory. He also highlighted the inhumane lockdown, serious violations of human rights including extrajudicial killings, torture, illegal detentions, media blackout, use of pellet guns, forced adduction and other means of brutal oppression.  

Adviser to the PM also underscored the institutionalized efforts of the Indian government to change the demography of IIOJ&K. He stated that the Indian government had enacted new laws to facilitate the settlement of non-Kashmirs in the occupied territory and acquire property there which was clear violation of the established norms of international law including that of the United Nations Security Council resolutions and the 4th Geneva Convention.

The Adviser to the PM underscored Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the people of IIOJK until they achieve their right to self-determination. In this regard he praised the efforts of the Pakistani and Kashmiri diaspora for highlighting the issue in Denmark.

After the event, Mr. Qamar Zaman Kaira attended a dinner with the Pakistani community arranged by the Embassy.
